hair perms

Hi all,
Well this post is mainly for other blind folk, since I figure most sighted folk love getting hairpermanents, and don't think of it as a discomfort, but they are most welcome to reply. I hate permanents, and having my hair messed with. For me, permanents are 2 hours of torture and discomfort, all that sitting in a certain position for a long period of time, bending over a tub to rinse the neutralizer and stuff out of your hair. I had one a couple of weeks ago, my mom put it in, and they're ok after they're in, but I'm so relieved it's over with for now, and I won't have to go through that again for a long time. Maybe I'm the only person in the world who hates perms? Any thoughts? Haven't seen any posts in a couple of days, so thought I'd better post, and help keep this board alive.

If you hate the process why go through it.

Hey dude, it's my moms idea, because my hair is getting thin, and the perms make it thicker, so don't jump on me.

I think most people, whether blind or sighted, don't necessarily enjoy the process. I don't think this is just a blindness phenomonon.

that's probably true. I've always just taken it for granted that most people didn't think about it one way or another, and I was the only one who really hates having them done. The last one I had doesn't last but 2 month, so if mom wanted to, she could give me one again in two months. yuk. I think they just started coming out with the short ones. most of them last 6 months or longer.

My aunt went through one a year ago. And she said never again lol. She let her daughter do it well not sure why. But at that time my cousin was a majoring in working with hair. And asked if her mom wanted a free perm since she was learning how to do those. And she said her hair felt frizzy and not to mention she said she looked like a poodle lol. I don't do it simply because of the time, the smells, and the cost! Don't get me wrong, I love curly hair but I aint going that far. I'd rather sit under rollers. And I don't curl my hair unless I'm going to a function.

well, this was before we went to the bookstore. It turned out pretty well, not frizzed, but it did put body in it and made it thicker. I hate having anything done to it. I can resign my self to having to have it brushed, but I hate having it rolled or permed. at least I don't have the perm things but every few years.

I didn't mean it to sound as if I jumped {if only 1 had the energy}lol. No I was just interested in why you endure something you obviously hate its the psychology study.

try going thru having blue lines thru your hair every few months its torture as they keep asking is that alright? Sir
"eh uhm could you perhaps do some more on the right its a bit lopsided".lol

the process Its self isn't too bad just tedious as we share the same problem being unable to see the final result.

why? Good question difficult answer smile I'm Goth and now and again I get the urge to look even more bizarre than usual its also a change from black..I'm toying with idea of silver but Ally my none to subtle brother says.
"It il look as if yer goin grey earlier than ye planned mate".

oh yes, you wouldn't want that I'm sure lol. Well, I can feel the final results after it's done, and it thickens it out. I wonder why they call them permanents, since they don't last, and therefore, they are not permanent.

No thought it might well be happening and I'm sure some kind soul will let me know.smile

Hmm that's a good question ask them next time and I bet they'll be unable to give you a really good answer.

I bet I'm the only one who has ever thought of that question. Nowadays, when you bring somthing up that other people never thought of, they act like you're crazy for even coming up with such a thought.

Its the very fact that you can think originally and for yourself that scares people....keep at it pal

Now there's an analysis I hadn't thought of, people are scared because I can think for myself? I never thought of that. If people are scared because of that, then all I can say is people are very easily frightened, lol.
